Installing and configuring Ansible on RHEL 8 Step by step

Installing Ansible on RHEL 8 is very simple and takes only few minutes.

1. Update the system

dnf update

2. Install Python

dnf install python3

3. Install Python pip

dnf install python3-pip

pip3 install ansible --user

4. Add repo using subscription manager

subscription-manager repos --enable ansible-2.8-for-rhel-8-x86_64-rpms

 

5. Install Ansible

dnf -y install ansible

 

6. Ansible is installed on the server. Check the version using following command:

[root@ansible ~]# ansible --version

ansible 2.9.1

config file = /etc/ansible/ansible.cfg

configured module search path = ['/root/.ansible/plugins/modules', '/usr/share/ansible/plugins/modules']

ansible python module location = /root/.local/lib/python3.6/site-packages/ansible

executable location = /usr/bin/ansible

python version = 3.6.8 (default, Oct 11 2019, 15:04:54) [GCC 8.3.1 20190507 (Red Hat 8.3.1-4)]

[root@ansible ~]#
